Botanischer Garten Karlsruhe - Expressive oil painting full of life

The painting Botanischer Garten Karlsruhe by Andrii Chebotaru was created in 2019 as part of the "Plein air Kunst in Baden" project. It shows the Orangerie, a historic building of great cultural significance, and combines it with the lively scene of visitors enjoying the garden. Even at first glance, an atmosphere full of energy, color and harmony unfolds. The work also acts as an invitation to enter the scene and experience the moment.

The orangery as the central motif of the Karlsruhe Botanical Garden

The Orangerie rises up in the background with its impressive red façade and striking dome. Originally built as winter quarters for exotic plants and as a venue for social events, it now serves as an exhibition space for the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe. It is therefore not only an architectural highlight, but also a symbol of the city's cultural diversity. In this painting, architecture is not only depicted as a building, but also as a living symbol of history and culture.

Coloring and painting technique

Chebotaru works with bold, impasto applications of paint. The rich reds of the orangery stand in stark contrast to the vibrant greens of the garden. In addition, bright blue and light yellow tones create strong accents that make light and movement tangible. Every brushstroke remains visible and therefore makes a decisive contribution to the dynamism of the overall work. Furthermore, the expressive technique creates the impression that the picture is pulsating and breathing life at the moment of painting.

Atmosphere and mood

The visitors in the foreground lend closeness and humanity to the scene. They stroll, linger and enjoy the sunny day. This creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that conveys peace and joy at the same time. Nevertheless, the monumental architecture remains present in the background, creating a balance between nature, culture and people. The work also conveys a sense of freedom, encounter and cultural openness.

Use and inspiration

This oil painting is not only decorative, but also has a strong narrative. It is ideal for galleries, private collections or as an impressive gift. It also brings joie de vivre and colorful energy into living rooms, offices or practice rooms. This is why "Visitors to the Karlsruhe Botanical Garden" is a work of art that enlivens rooms, tells stories and inspires the viewer time and again. After all, it unites past and present, nature and architecture, people and culture in a harmonious expression.

The power of color - Artist biography Chebotaru Andrii

The plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii enchants with his landscapes created throughout Europe. As a passionate plein air painter, he loves colors in two ways: on the one hand in their iridescent variety, and on the other as a material itself, which he applies vividly and powerfully. He is thus not only part of the Impressionist tradition, but also brings a modern touch through his expressive techniques.

Training and artistic influences of plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii

After his training, Chebotaru attended the "Landscape Painting" workshop at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture for six years. His teachers, V. I. Zabasty and I. Yu. Melnychuk, had a decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, Chebotaru developed his own style early on, which is characterized by spontaneity, energy and an extraordinary intensity of colour.

Memberships and exhibitions

Chebotaru has been a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine since 2011 and is now considered a proven master of plein air painting. He has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2016, he showed his works in a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. His paintings are represented in galleries and private collections worldwide - including in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Russia, China and Taiwan.

European motifs and artistic inspiration

He is particularly inspired by the diversity of European landscapes. In the Basque Country, untouched nature and rural harmony come together. In cities like Bilbao, he finds the contrast between historical architecture and modern architecture exciting. He therefore uses both the romantic beauty of beaches and mountains and the dynamism of industrial architecture for his pictorial compositions. The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, a symbol of modern architecture, became a special motif for him.

Artistic vision

Chebotaru's journey of open-air painting is more than just capturing moments. It is an invitation to viewers to become part of the landscapes themselves - to walk on the beach, climb rocks or stroll through narrow alleyways. He also conveys an intense engagement with nature through changing light, different times of day and weather conditions. Therefore, each of his works is not just a picture, but an experience.
