The plein air initiated by Artgallery-Keller in Graben-Neudorf produced some extraordinary works. Among them was the painting Historic Residence by Chebotaru Andrii, in which a historic building shines anew in bright summer colors. An exclusive work that unites past and present and is presented in the Artgallery-Keller collection. Size: 60 × 50 cm, technique: oil on canvas.
In the center of the picture is the historic building with its characteristic corner turret and red roof. The architecture acts as a gateway to the history of the place. At the same time, two mighty trees frame the house and form a natural arch with their dense crowns. A small figure appears at the bottom of the picture, bringing movement and humanity to the scene. This creates an exciting interplay of calm and liveliness.
Chebotaru works with a bold, impasto style of painting. The colors are not mixed, but placed next to each other in a vibrant way. The result is a vibrant interplay of colors that creates depth and dynamism. Blue and green tones dominate the depiction of nature, while warm red and ochre tones emphasize the building. In addition, the visible structure of the paint application creates an almost sculptural effect that lends the picture additional energy.
The painting conveys the mood of a sunny summer's day. Nevertheless, it does not remain a mere depiction, but creates a poetic atmosphere. The view through the trees is like a window into another time. The work thus invites the viewer to reflect on history, nature and the transience of the moment. It is a picture that radiates calm and inspiration at the same time.
This oil painting is ideal as a highlight in galleries, private collections or as a representative work of art for living and working spaces. It is also a special gift for art lovers who appreciate expressiveness and color intensity. It is therefore more than just decoration - it is a work of art that enlivens rooms, tells stories and arouses emotions.
The plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii enchants with his landscapes created throughout Europe. As a passionate plein air painter, he loves colors in two ways: on the one hand in their iridescent variety, and on the other as a material itself, which he applies vividly and powerfully. He is thus not only part of the Impressionist tradition, but also brings a modern touch through his expressive techniques.
After his training, Chebotaru attended the "Landscape Painting" workshop at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture for six years. His teachers, V. I. Zabasty and I. Yu. Melnychuk, had a decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, Chebotaru developed his own style early on, which is characterized by spontaneity, energy and an extraordinary intensity of colour.
Chebotaru has been a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine since 2011 and is now considered a proven master of plein air painting. He has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2016, he showed his works in a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. His paintings are represented in galleries and private collections worldwide - including in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Russia, China and Taiwan.
He is particularly inspired by the diversity of European landscapes. In the Basque Country, untouched nature and rural harmony come together. In cities like Bilbao, he finds the contrast between historical architecture and modern architecture exciting. He therefore uses both the romantic beauty of beaches and mountains and the dynamism of industrial architecture for his pictorial compositions. The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, a symbol of modern architecture, became a special motif for him.
Chebotaru's journey of open-air painting is more than just capturing moments. It is an invitation to viewers to become part of the landscapes themselves - to walk on the beach, climb rocks or stroll through narrow alleyways. He also conveys an intense engagement with nature through changing light, different times of day and weather conditions. Therefore, each of his works is not just a picture, but an experience.
