Beschreibung

Cathedral Notre-Dame de Strasbourg - expressive oil paintings.

The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Strasbourg is not only a landmark of Alsace, but also a source of inspiration for artists from all over the world. The present Oil painting by Andrii Chebotarucreated in 2019 as part of the "Plein Air in Graben-Neudorf" project, captures the impressive cathedral in a unique way. Even at first glance, an emotional mood unfolds, combining the beauty of the architecture with the power of color.

Depiction of the motif Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg

At the center of the painting is the monumental façade of the cathedral, which is illuminated in vibrant shades of red. In front of it, a dynamic crowd of visitors enlivens the scene, creating an atmospheric proximity between architecture and people. On the left of the picture, the traditional half-timbered houses contrast with the mighty forms of the cathedral, emphasizing the historical dimension of Strasbourg.

Coloring and painting technique

Chebotaru works with a pastose, energetic technique. The color areas are deliberately strong: bright yellow as the background, intense red and blue tones for the cathedral and vibrant green and orange for the surrounding buildings. This creates a strong interplay of colors that conveys both tension and harmony. Every brushstroke remains visible and lends the painting a palpable dynamism. In addition, the thick color structure has the effect of a sculptural relief that brings the composition to life.

Atmosphere and effect

The atmosphere is both solemn and full of energy. The bright yellow of the sky enhances the contrast with the red cathedral and creates an almost mystical aura. Nevertheless, the depiction remains grounded through the depiction of the people surrounding the building. This reinforces the impression that the cathedral is not only a monument to the past, but also a living part of today's urban life.

Use and presentation

This work is ideal for galleries, art collections and stylish living spaces. It is also a unique gift for lovers of European architecture and impressionist painting. It is therefore ideal for both private rooms and prestigious public spaces.

The power of color - Artist biography Chebotaru Andrii

The plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii enchants with his landscapes created throughout Europe. As a passionate plein air painter, he loves colors in two ways: on the one hand in their iridescent variety, and on the other as a material itself, which he applies vividly and powerfully. He is thus not only part of the Impressionist tradition, but also brings a modern touch through his expressive techniques.

Training and artistic influences of plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii

After his training, Chebotaru attended the "Landscape Painting" workshop at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture for six years. His teachers, V. I. Zabasty and I. Yu. Melnychuk, had a decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, Chebotaru developed his own style early on, which is characterized by spontaneity, energy and an extraordinary intensity of colour.

Memberships and exhibitions

Chebotaru has been a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine since 2011 and is now considered a proven master of plein air painting. He has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2016, he showed his works in a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. His paintings are represented in galleries and private collections worldwide - including in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Russia, China and Taiwan.

European motifs and artistic inspiration

He is particularly inspired by the diversity of European landscapes. In the Basque Country, untouched nature and rural harmony come together. In cities like Bilbao, he finds the contrast between historical architecture and modern architecture exciting. He therefore uses both the romantic beauty of beaches and mountains and the dynamism of industrial architecture for his pictorial compositions. The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, a symbol of modern architecture, became a special motif for him.

Artistic vision

Chebotaru's journey of open-air painting is more than just capturing moments. It is an invitation to viewers to become part of the landscapes themselves - to walk on the beach, climb rocks or stroll through narrow alleyways. He also conveys an intense engagement with nature through changing light, different times of day and weather conditions. Therefore, each of his works is not just a picture, but an experience.
