Walk on the lilac slope - Expressionist oil painting full of color and joie de vivre

Spaziergang am Fliederhang is a colorful and therefore extremely lively oil painting on canvas that combines nature, childhood memories and emotional closeness in a unique pictorial composition. As two figures - presumably a mother and child with a dog - walk along a lush, blooming wall of lilacs, their delicate silhouettes stand out brightly against the rich colors of their surroundings. The picture thus exudes calm, lightness and a feeling of security, as if it were a moment captured from a sunny spring day.

In addition, the depiction in Spaziergang am Fliederhang appears both spontaneous and deliberately composed. This is because the abundance of flowers in the background is shown in vibrant shades of purple, pink, white and green. This spectacle of color conveys the impression of abundance and at the same time of constant growth. The path on which the two figures are walking is made almost sculpturally tangible by the lively application of paint. As a result, the painting style appears impulsive and dynamic, which is typical of modern expressionism.

Painting technique & expression in Walk on the lilac slope

The artist works with a strong, impasto application of paint, whereby each spatula mark remains clearly visible. Instead of mixing the colors, he places them directly next to each other in strong, pure tones. This not only creates depth, but also movement and a fascinating play of light reflections. In addition, the contrast between the figurative depiction and the almost abstract background of the flowers is particularly striking. This is a deliberate artistic decision that visually and emotionally reinforces the theme of "man in nature".

Effect & spatial effect

"Spaziergang am Fliederhang" is ideal for rooms in which joie de vivre, family warmth or closeness to nature are to be emphasized. Furthermore, the work is not only decorative, but also has a strong narrative power: it tells stories that resonate and gives every room a distinctive character. Ultimately, this picture brings color and emotion in equal measure - be it in the living room, the children's room, the hallway or even in a practice with a human focus.

Andrii Chebotaru

Chebotaru Andrii curriculum vitae

The power of color - Artist biography Chebotaru Andrii

The plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii enchants with his landscapes created throughout Europe. As a passionate plein air painter, he loves colors in two ways: on the one hand in their iridescent variety, and on the other as a material itself, which he applies vividly and powerfully. He is thus not only part of the Impressionist tradition, but also brings a modern touch through his expressive techniques.

Training and artistic influences of plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii

After his training, Chebotaru attended the "Landscape Painting" workshop at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture for six years. His teachers, V. I. Zabasty and I. Yu. Melnychuk, had a decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, Chebotaru developed his own style early on, which is characterized by spontaneity, energy and an extraordinary intensity of colour.

Memberships and exhibitions

Chebotaru has been a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine since 2011 and is now considered a proven master of plein air painting. He has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2016, he showed his works in a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. His paintings are represented in galleries and private collections worldwide - including in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Russia, China and Taiwan.

European motifs and artistic inspiration

He is particularly inspired by the diversity of European landscapes. In the Basque Country, untouched nature and rural harmony come together. In cities like Bilbao, he finds the contrast between historical architecture and modern architecture exciting. He therefore uses both the romantic beauty of beaches and mountains and the dynamism of industrial architecture for his pictorial compositions. The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, a symbol of modern architecture, became a special motif for him.

Artistic vision

Chebotaru's journey of open-air painting is more than just capturing moments. It is an invitation to viewers to become part of the landscapes themselves - to walk on the beach, climb rocks or stroll through narrow alleyways. He also conveys an intense engagement with nature through changing light, different times of day and weather conditions. Therefore, each of his works is not just a picture, but an experience.
