The Karlsruhe Palace Gardens is not only a place of peace, but also a source of inspiration. In 2019, the Ukrainian artist created Andrii Chebotaru this impressive oil painting as part of the project "Plein Air in Baden". With every brushstroke, he captures the lightness of a summer's day that is both still and lively. The work is a reminder of how closely nature and history are interwoven in Karlsruhe.
The castle takes center stage, its tower rising majestically above the expansive park. The view leads over the water basin, which reflects the sky, to the lush treetops dancing in bright colors. The composition is harmonious: Foreground, water surface, vegetation and architecture flow into one another. This creates the impression that the viewer is standing on the shore and feeling the gentle breeze.
Chebotaru uses a impasto oil techniquereminiscent of the great Impressionists. His brushstrokes are short, dense and full of energy. The color palette ranges from soft blues to intense yellows and greens. The artist also adds small accents of color in orange and white to create light reflections and movement. Each layer appears alive, almost like a conversation between heaven and earth. The surface of the painting glows, a symbol of warmth, life and constant change.
This work radiates calm and optimism at the same time. The delicate reflections in the water create an almost meditative mood. Nevertheless, you can feel the pulse of life in the vibrant colors. The artist shows that nature is not static, but constantly changing, a lively interplay of light, color and emotion. Thus the "Karlsruhe Palace Garden" into a poetic homage to the connection between man, history and nature.
The painting is ideal for Living rooms, galleries or representative rooms. It brings light, depth and harmony to any environment. It is also an ideal Gift for art loverswho appreciate Impressionism and want to experience the beauty of German park landscapes in a contemporary form. This work combines classical painting tradition with modern expressiveness, a real highlight for any art collection.
The plein air painter Chebotaru Andrii enchants with his landscapes created throughout Europe. As a passionate plein air painter, he loves colors in two ways: on the one hand in their iridescent variety, and on the other as a material itself, which he applies vividly and powerfully. He is thus not only part of the Impressionist tradition, but also brings a modern touch through his expressive techniques.
After his training, Chebotaru attended the "Landscape Painting" workshop at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture for six years. His teachers, V. I. Zabasty and I. Yu. Melnychuk, had a decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, Chebotaru developed his own style early on, which is characterized by spontaneity, energy and an extraordinary intensity of colour.
Chebotaru has been a member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine since 2011 and is now considered a proven master of plein air painting. He has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2016, he showed his works in a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. His paintings are represented in galleries and private collections worldwide - including in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Russia, China and Taiwan.
He is particularly inspired by the diversity of European landscapes. In the Basque Country, untouched nature and rural harmony come together. In cities like Bilbao, he finds the contrast between historical architecture and modern architecture exciting. He therefore uses both the romantic beauty of beaches and mountains and the dynamism of industrial architecture for his pictorial compositions. The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, a symbol of modern architecture, became a special motif for him.
Chebotaru's journey of open-air painting is more than just capturing moments. It is an invitation to viewers to become part of the landscapes themselves - to walk on the beach, climb rocks or stroll through narrow alleyways. He also conveys an intense engagement with nature through changing light, different times of day and weather conditions. Therefore, each of his works is not just a picture, but an experience.
